Today, David was joined by flutists Rob Cronin and Jessica Sherwood in accompanying the bell choir prelude and the hymns in congregational singing at Westminster Presbyterian Church.
While we appreciate the musical direction of more contemporary music in churches today, we’re still enthralled by the time-tested, uplifting hymns and classical pieces. ‘Classical’ is, of course, not merely a musical style or label, but a timeless discipline of excellence and aspiration succeeded only by the Church’s overall message.
In Atlanta, we are blessed to have so many churches that maintain hymns and classical music as their ‘standard’ music, and Chamber Music Atlanta has had the distinction of contracting instrumental musicians for a number of these magnificent local traditions for many years.
